Rebecca Byrne,  President

Rebecca Byrne became the President of the Personnel Management Association of Aztlan as of July 2010.

 Ms. Byrne has more than 25 years experience in Human Resources as a manager, consultant, and founder of the online company, HR Direct Response. She is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and University of Phoenix with degrees in Personnel and Business Management. She also holds Certifications in Negotiations, Total Quality Management, and Human Resources in an Industrial Environment.

 During Ms. Byrne’s career she has been employed by several national companies that include retail, restaurant and manufacturing enterprises such as Home Depot, GameStop, Denny’s Restaurant and Weyerhaeuser Company.

 In addition to her busy career, she has been very involved in her community for nearly 20 years. In 1992 she earned a Certificate of Commendation from Senator Hilda Solis for her work in East Los Angeles. She has sat on several Boards of Directors including the Whittier Citizens Police Academy, the Los Angeles Police Department , Home for Adolescent Girls and the Pomona Valley Boys and Girls Club. In addition, she has served the last five years as an Interview Specialist for the Los Angeles Police Department. She is a native California and enjoys all kinds of sports. Her passion has been noted by many as a volunteer for at-risk children.

Vivian Caldera, Secretary

Vivian Caldera serves on the PMAA executive Board as its Secretary.  With more than 20 years of experience in corporate America, as well as in higher education, human resources professional, Vivian Caldera believes that nothing takes place of excellence in customer service.  It's a business practice that she learned early on in the banking industry and one that Vivian has successfully mastered and applied in every facet of her career.  She is also a staunch champion for diversity in the workplace.  Vivian Human Resources Professional began her professional career in retail banking.  Vivian's financial background made her a national success in business finance, human resources, marketing, and retail banking.  She moved her way through management ranks to serve as Senior Administrator/Vice President of Personnel and Training.  She also took on leadership roles within the communities to which her banking institution served, and was an active board member, serving on local school district business and finance committees such as the Pasadena Business & Finance Academy and Hispanic Bankers Association.  While Vivian enjoyed the banking industry, she was attracted to the educational mission and philosophy that was the heartbeat of Loyola Marymount University (LMU).  After serving eight years at LMU, she obtained the position of Director of Human Resources at Whittier College.  Vivian holds a BS degree in Business management and is a Graduate of Southern Methodist University in Texas' Executive Graduate School of Banking.

Sarah Rios, Advisor

Sarah Rios, PMAA Board Advisor and past president of PMAA 2007-2009.  Sarah has been a  member of PMAA since 1995.  Shortly after joining PMAA Sarah volunteered to served as the PMAA Board Treasurer.  

Ms. Rios has 20+ years in management, human resources consulting, and a specialist in unemployment insurance.  Sarah currently works for Employment Tax Specialists (ETS) in Torrance California as the Director of UCM Plus Operation a growing national unemployment insurance service provider. Before joining ETS in 2008, Ms. Rios managed the Unemployment Insurance Service for Employers Group (EG) a human resources association.  During her employment with EG Ms. Rios continued to take the challenge and grow within the company.  During her tenure with EG she held position as a Unemployment Hearing Specialist, Human Resources Helpline and house expert on FMLA and CFRA, Manager for the Inland Empire Region.  During her position as Manager she also presided on the Ontario Board of the Inland Empire Economic Partnership, IEEP.  Ms. Rios has been quoted in local newspapers on various HR issues in addition to presenting HR subjects at conferences and seminars throughout Southern California.  Since September 2007 has been Board President for California Unemployment Insurance Council (CUIC), a Southern California non-profit organization since 1967 organized to build the interest and educate the employer  community in ways in controlling unemployment cost.
